Cheap flights to Chile
There's no getting around it. Chile is at the end of the world, and it's a long haul. What you can get around, however, is paying the steep cost of airfare to Chile that most travel agencies and online airline ticket bookers charge. There are a few key secrets to reducing your airfare to Chile by hundreds of dollars, and this is where I will show you these tricks to uncovering the truly cheap flights to Chile. There are several steps to getting it right, here is the first step: determining which carrier you will be traveling on in order to get the very cheap airfare to Chile that not many people know about.

Airlines that fly to Chile
Everybody knows that Copa Airlines and Taca Airlines fly to Chile, stopping off in Panama or Costa Rica on the way. But barring the flights from Costa Rica to Chile special offers, or deals on flying from Santiago Chile to Panama, those trips will most likely cost you a pretty penny, and even so most people just click and buy those tickets without doing further research. Fine. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars above what you have to, be my guest. Or, you could choose to take the carrier I've been flying on, which is actually a household name, but the last airline you would expect to fly all the way to Chile. But they do fly there. Yes, I know that when I tell people which air carrier I use to fly from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Santiago de Chile, people often do a double take and say, "oh, really?" and I don't blame them, because doesn't exactly come to mind as the first on the list of airlines that fly to Chile, but it has actually been with this carrier that I've flown, by far, some of the cheapest flights to Chile from destinations throughout the United States. That's just my experience, plus a little research into direct flights from San Francisco to Santiago Chile.

It's important to note that you have to go to their Web site directly, because they are no longer affiliated with Orbitz, Expedia.com and the other typically cheap online flight booking sites. This means that you could see one price on Expedia, and a lower priced airfare on the airline's own official Web site, and the only way you would know about it would be to click over there and type in your travel dates and see the results for cheap flights to Chile. In this case, if you relied entirely on Orbitz or Expedia, you could spend more money. Of course, you should check those sites too. I'm gonna level with you, this isn't one-stop shopping. If you are committed to cheap online flights Chile bound, then I'm going to show you how to do your own research for yourself, click around and compare prices of flights to Chile online: put some elbow grease into it, because a few extra minutes of researching cheap flights to Chile could mean hundreds of dollars in savings. I'm just saying that depending on when I was able to snag the right itinerary, I reduced the cost of my ticket to Chile by a jaw-dropping amount of money by choosing this carrier from among the airlines that fly to Chile. I've also flown on other airlines, I'm not in the bag for one airline over another: as long as you're the cheapest airline that flies to Chile, you're all good in my book.

So, at this point you might want to know which carrier I've been raving about, and I will tell you in a minute, but I think it's really important that before I tell you which is the best among the airlines that fly to Chile, you should be armed with a few more tricks. I don't want to send you away thinking that just by knowing which airline to fly to Chile, you're going to get the best price on a ticket. It's slightly more involved than that. But at the end of this post I will tell you which one I've had the most success flying on, and by then you'll know how to track down the cheap flights to Chile that are out there. Empty seats in underbooked airlines going for pennies on the dollar are waiting for you, and you need to know the steps to get you on that plane bound for Santiago at the lowest cost. Are flights to Chile going to go up or will flights to Chile come down? That's what we attempt to answer on this page, but it often depends on when, exactly, you pull out your credit card, click on the airline Web site, buy the ticket, finalize your online purchase and print out your boarding pass.

When is the cheapest time to fly to Santiago Chile?
This is another crucial trick to securing the cheapest plane ticket to Santiago de Chile: when to fly and when to book your ticket. That's because the process of finding inexpensive flights to Chile involves not only what month, day or season of the year that you plan to travel, but also how far in advance you book. But remember that nothing is written in stone. Sometimes when you go to buy a plane ticket to Chile in the off-season, it doesn't really matter if you're booking a week in advance. Sometimes. On the other hand, if you're planning a big trip during the peak tourism season in Chile when flights are fuller, then it makes sense to book in advance to stay ahead of the curve of higher prices. When it comes to the high tourist season in Chile, and you're booking your ticket months before traveling because you are planning your trip in advance, and this is part of that plan, then we recommend you be careful about sitting on a good priced plane ticket when you see it. If you wait a week, it could go up.

If it's the cheapest flight to Chile that you've ever seen, then it means you've followed our advice by booking in advance and you should click on it and buy the ticket.

What time of year are inexpensive Chile flights available?
The month and even week of the year that you choose to travel can greatly affect the cost of the ticket prices. If you can, be flexible. (There's usually a box for this. Literally. Go to the airline Web site and click "My dates are flexible", because that is a very effective way of bringing the price of your airline ticket to Chile down immediately). Again if you're looking for the cheapest flights to Chile with no time frame, then you have that much more power as a consumer.

The cheapest time to fly to Chile is something to consider carefully before booking your flight reservation. Typically, if somebody is flying from one destination in, say, the US, and going to Europe, the summer fares will be a lot more expensive than the winter fares, which are the cheapest fares of all. But when traveling from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere, things get a little more complicated, because what is summer in the north is winter in the south. But then there is the growing off-season trend. It doesn't mean there aren't exceptional savings, but you have to time it right, and it can often be extremely hard to hit it on the nose. Until now. I'm going to show you the cheapest time to fly to Chile. It's in the Fall. Which is the Spring in Chile. That's the most beautiful time of year, it's the best for traveling, and it's the cheapest time to fly to Chile.

When is high tourist season in Chile? November is when it heats up, because in the Southern Hemisphere that's the equivalent of May in the Northern Hemisphere. Everthing's reversed, which means that you actually have a great opportunity to snag cheap flights to Chile. When everybody's spending a bundle on flights to Europe and Asia during summer, you can wait till just before winter, hop on a flight to Chile and pay next to nothing, pretty much the change in your pocket. But pack light. Once you touch down in Santiago, all you'll need is a pair of shorts and a snorkel.

American Airlines flights to Chile
This is the carrier that I've been really happy with, for one simple reason: their flights are cheaper. Actually, there is also another reason: they treat you decently unlike some others that will go unnamed. I'm just saying it's really worth your while to take few seconds and check out American Airlines airfares and seasonal rates flying to South America. Because honestly I felt ripped off that I'd ever paid full fare on one of those companies advertised to be "discount" airlines to Santiago de Chile, like Taca and Copa, although if you look hard you can even find discounts on those airlines too.
