Everybody knows that Copa Airlines and Taca Airlines fly to Chile, stopping off in Panama or Costa Rica on the way. But barring the flights from Costa Rica to Chile special offers, or deals on flying from Santiago Chile to Panama, those trips will most likely cost you a pretty penny, and even so most people just click and buy those tickets without doing further research. Fine. If you want to spend hundreds of dollars above what you have to, be my guest. Or, you could choose to take the carrier I've been flying on, which is actually a household name, but the last airline you would expect to fly all the way to Chile. But they do fly there. Yes, I know that when I tell people which air carrier I use to fly from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Santiago de Chile, people often do a double take and say, "oh, really?" and I don't blame them, because doesn't exactly come to mind as the first on the list of airlines that fly to Chile, but it has actually been with this carrier that I've flown, by far, some of the cheapest flights to Chile from destinations throughout the United States. That's just my experience, plus a little research into direct flights from San Francisco to Santiago Chile.

It's important to note that you have to go to their Web site directly, because they are no longer affiliated with Orbitz, Expedia.com and the other typically cheap online flight booking sites. Actually, there is also another reason: they treat you decently unlike some others that will go unnamed. Because honestly I felt ripped off that I'd ever paid full fare on one of those companies advertised to be "discount" airlines to Santiago de Chile, like Taca and Copa, although if you look hard you can even find discounts on those airlines too.
