Chile Loses

I could never be so arrogant as to take all the credit for our momentous defeat suffered in the 2007 Weblog Awards. This is a loss for Chile. In fact, most of South America and Spain got clobbered by a couple ballot-stuffing anti-castrista blogs. (Chile just committed libel).

Also worth considering that it wouldn't be that hard for subversive elements to vote against the fatherland by voting for the competition, not saying I suspect them of such intelligence but it's what I would have done if I were an Enemy of Chile.

Speaking of which I noticed one person commenting under the alias of something like Traitor Joel,
Have you seen that blog about Cuba? Man, you've got a tough fight ahead when you're facing in depth coverage of current human rights abuses like what they're covering over there. I mean, did you read the one about marking peoples hands in Venezuela!? I had no idea to be honest. I knew things were going to hell in a handbasket, but didn't know it was to that point yet.
Now is that any way to promote la Patria? Shame on you, Traitor Joel. (Although your discounted Chilean wine is amazing). The rest of you who were loyal to the end, Chile thanks you:

Sharing the loss are Lauren, Matt, Kyle and, most of all, Tomás. All other Chile bloggers were wise to stay out of the fray.

i just checked the results and then clicked to here to see the reaction...you took a bit of a beating, i'm afraid. Commie bashing rules to internet, at least amongst the grand total of +/- 2100 voters -although most were probably repeat voters like myself so there were, quite possibly, only around 13 voters in total :) Oh well, there's always next year..and i reckon there must be more than one competition to enter- I've heard this internex thing is quite big, with at least 1000 pages on it around the world.

Hear that, Traitor Joel? At least Matt's smart enough to say he voted repeatedly.

This "traitor" made exactly the same comment that I made on a recent post, so I'll assume that your comments were also directed at me. I, who am not a traitor.

In the interest of full disclosure, C.hileno.com received 100 porciento of my vote. My single vote. I tried to vote more than once, I really did, but voting more than once for somebody made me feel like I was in a South American country voting a dictator into office or something.

It seems extremely appropriate to me that the Cuban "anti-castrista" website won in a democratic contest in which a few people with privileged access were able to vote as often as they wished. Jimmy Carter would undoubtedly give this election his seal of approval.

Anyway, call me a fan of personal rights, but at least if your blog had to lose it was to worthwhile blog, and aside from the slander I was honored to be the subject of your post. ;)

Woah, the Cubans spanked everyone!

Well, at least you pulled out a much more respectable number than 5 or 19 like some of the other blogs.

Was there any kind of prize for the winner?

The winners get announced at blogworld in las vegas but something tells me no one was holding their breath for the Latino blog winner (or any of the winners). There was a big showdown between gizmodo and engadget. Whatever, we're all winners.

You did, you ballot stuffer. :-) I'm indebted.

...nah, actually you're still indebted, for the great blog I provide :P

Your blog is so entertaining. Well I tried to help out a dear friend. Besides, during the day I am around campus so can use the different computers, hence more opportunies. ;) It is one of those "I Scratch Your Back, You Scratch Mine" things.
You came in at 3rd place in the "latin" category, not bad for being a newbiew blog.
