Chile Blog Review: Santiago Tourist

This is a review of AJ's blog, Santiago Tourist

I will always be young. The blog Chileno, however, can't help but notice that December's Sun, still tucked behind the curtain of the Earth, is nevertheless casting an unnatural glow upon a small corner of the Eastern sky. That's right. Chileno's 2nd Birthday is coming up (that's old in blog years), and with it a driving compulsion:

To prey upon the Young.

What better than this little whipper snapper, this incorrigible Gelfling full of boundless energy, unbridled joy and a desire to destroy me by his honor-bound and naive willingness to foolishly give and keep on giving, to walk into the trap; incarnate, an Ode to the Young and Dumb, comes bumbling along:

There's a show tonight.

That boyish blogger would just tell you that there's a show tonight.

That ain't how we do it round here. Santiago Chile has got one of the world's most impoverished live music scenes, knowledge of a live show here is like money, it doesn't grow on trees, if you have it, it must be pried from your hands, you don't give it away for free, you don't give it away at all.

Once you get back from the show, you brag your ass off about it. Suckers provide pictures and Youtube videos of live music in Santiago, Chile, like Chileno did when it was Young and Dumb but we're over that. Now we just show you the ticket stub and make you salivate for what could never, ever possibly be yours.

Nevertheless I pounce upon AJ's information, clamp him down, force his eyelids open as he stares at the blinding light, every last drop of his life essence sucked out of him and body discarded, a lifeless husk. Because if you're reading this now, you heard about that live show right here, FIRST, on Chileno.

And, even better, if you're reading this entry and it's no longer Wednesday, then you are reading about that show right here, FIRST, on Chileno, after it happened. (This second scenario much more to my liking).

You see, Santiago Tourist is Young and it gives. Chileno is Old, and takeths. I never bothered to hammer out useful information about the Santiago scene, all very standard what he's got up there and that's the beauty of it, you can pull from that, do everything and get oriented quickly if you're new to Santiago and you read his blog. He's done all the work for me, now I benefit by being the FIRST to tell you about:
  • the best icecream parlor in Santiago, Chile
  • Chilean university art galleries and exhibitions
  • Santiago's historic Plaza Italia
  • the Santiago Chile bus and public transportation system
  • where to buy used clothes in Santiago, Chile (Blue Orange is a hipster haven, btw.)
  • All mine now! I'm cashing in on the energy of Youth, I'm drinking down his living life essence and living longer because of it. There is nothing I can say except:

    Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha!
