Guide to Earthquake Preparedness
Welcome to Chile, you've just walked into a burning ring of fire. And I might add: who the hell does Australia think it is? Being from California, though, it's nothing new. But California gets off easy too. I have been surprised and thrilled by the incredible frequency of Chilean tremors, or temblores; harmless but noticeable earthquakes in Chile.
But in light of the news reports and historical archives chronicling the infamous November 2007, Chile Earthquake, I'll take this moment to share some common measures to prevent excessive damage, injuries, and even death to you and those you pretend to love.

Okay, actually, I don't have time to do this right now but in the meantime I'll leave you with FEMA's guide to earthquake preparedness and may God have mercy on your soul. You can also read about San Francisco Bay Area earthquake preparedness, it's about as long as a hard-core online sales letter (it rumbles, it tumbles!) Good stuff.

By the way, another canadian police scandal make the front pages here in France today. It's becoming pathetic to see those half gringos/quarter brit/quarter french- police killing poeple for no reason.

I'm glad I provide amusement but it's a private joke for you. Lago, you continue to confuse my skeptical blogging about an ISOLATED event involving the Toronto police force and FIFA to mean that a blindly defend all Canadian police brutality, and you send in these reports to "prove" that I was so wrong.
You're proving nothing because I've never defended police brutality, much less Canadian. When I blogged about the FIFA incident I was mostly criticizing the hypocritical populism of Chilean politicians, media and various individuals.
I was saying ONCE THERE'S PROOF then you can make wild accusations of brutality and racism. And I was totally willing to admit that, if proven, the police behaved brutally. But as the case unraveled it became increasingly apparent that the kids were violent, spoiled brats. Does this negate the possibility that Toronto police have a violent tendency, NO. But abundant evidence and CONFESSIONS BY A CHILEAN PLAYER proved that the Chileans were the aggressors. Maybe both sides were brutal. It was a fight. That was my case I blogged about it extensively, if you care to look back.
Oh, but then you would have to learn how to read. Literacy is underrated. Lago, I suggest you try it. Then again, the facts might get in the way of your giggles, and giggling is good.

You are just so unlucky. Canadian police, since the fifa thing, have just keep losing credibilty affaire after affaire. As you were the only blog in the world defending them, you will pay :-)

1. You continue to ignore the context in which in which I "defended" the Toronto police (not Canadian police in general, as you continue to assert).
2. I wasn't the only one. Have you even read the comments on my blog? Checked out any Canadian blogs from the time?

I don't care if you linked directly to GOD's blog, Lagos, you've gotta make the connection, and you're not making the connection. You're inventing an argument and putting it in my mouth and that is extremely disrespectful because it's a waste of my time and it's boring to anyone who bothers to read on after your first inane interjection.
The only reason I care to keep up with this is because you did seem to be somewhat intelligent in previous comments, or at least provocative enough to keep things interesting, but if you don't develop your own arguments, and you keep the thread treading water in limbo, then that is insulting to my intelligence.

But you're simply wrong. If you go back and look my argument was that Chileans shouldn't jump to conclusions. I gave the Toronto police the benefit of the doubt to a certain degree simply because too many Chileans were making wild accusations, and blindly defending the FIFA players who turned out, after all, to have provoked this.
Lago, I never made any sort of sweeping arguments about Canadian police. That's you. You can show me that they're violent, I won't be surprised at all.
And even if you were to find more articles about the Toronto police's reaction in a separate incident, you still wouldn't prove me wrong. Because I didn't defend them blindly as a police force, I only said they deserve to be treated fairly in this specific incident. I left open the possibility that they were in the wrong. I even snickered at their "internal investigation" which proved they were in the right. Again, did you read a single word I wrote?

Here's what I think the problem is, Lago: you're stuck in a 13th century feudalist mentality in which conditionally defending one of the parties in a specific dispute then marks you for life. I gave the Toronto police - not the Canadian police (although your racist mentality would have it that they're all the same) - I gave the Toronto police the benefit of the doubt. If that much. I never swore allegiance to them, my main point was only that Chileans were jumping to conclusions and being obscenely hypocritical. But since I took a stance that a mind as un-nuanced as yours would confuse for to-the-death loyalty, you've marked me for life as a defender of the police, a Brutality Denier, and you've got your work cut out for you "proving" that the Canadian police are violent.

That Canadian police are violent shouldn't be a fucking surprise, Lago. Since I was a little kid the Canadian Mounties were legendary for brutality. This is nothing new, dude.
In FACT, the enormous *surprise* here in Chile that Canadians would do such a thing is totally racist and self-loathing. Why? Chileans continued to say, "oh, I thought Canadians were civilized, first-world, etc," and it's like they're shocked - shocked - that a mostly white canadian police force could do something so cruel something so...Chilean.
Anyways, you are being totally intellectually insulting by failing to accurately represent my side of the argument.
