La Moneda

A good self guided tour of the area around Santiago, Chile's Moneda presidential palace would then be followed by a snack at Bavaria directly south on Bulnes street lined by Soviet-seeming military apartment buildings.

Definitely order whatever's on tap but I was under the weather and the completo-cortado combination surprisingly delicious. Also curative was the sight of a big hunk of rotisserie chicken on the spit.

Those "apartments" are offices, god damned gringo, and are not soviet....they were designed in the ยด30 by an austrian architect named Karl Brunner.
>>>Those "apartments" are offices
Are you talking about the buildings around the Moneda or the ones lining Bulnes, the latter is what I was talking about because I seem to remember being told that when hanging out in the area once. I could be wrong. Didn't know it was such an emotional topic, you lovely Chilean who makes a pastime of cheering on human rights abusers.
and are not soviet
Soviet style, dumbass. Your line is that I'm ignorant but it doesn't add up.
If mayonnaise is what's topping the hot-dogish thing, that's disgusting.
Jesus Christ Joel haven't you ever seen a completo? You just lost all credibility - prove that you live in Santiago.
Nice light flares in the first picture. I like it.
Completos, I do not like. My husband on the other hand is thrilled they just opening up a 24 hour Copec right by the house where he can get completos at all hours of the day if he so desires...
Although it won't matter for long because it seems within the next two months we'll be headed to Osorno!!!! (to live for a year if things pan out)
ps. does this mean you're back in Chile?
Copec completos next door? I got first dibs on your empty flat!
ps no i'll be back in a couple weeks.
C.hileno,
you are wise to call me out on my "completo" ignorance (no pun intended there). I do not, in fact, live in Santiago. I live in los EE.UU. while I wait for the snail's pace progress on my work visa.
Until then, I must satiate my curiosity with your blog. For this, I thank you sir.
That's okay Joel. I think I was a little upset cuz I vaguely confused you with someone who knew a lot about Chile and had experience here. In short, you made a good impression so I had high standards for you before your offensive comment about completos being disgusting. They are not, they are God's gift to mankind.
Wow! Fancy new banner.
I'm flattered that you thought I was living in Santiago.
I'm trying my best to prepare myself so that I can avoid the ignorant foreigner stigma, so I'm glad I was able to fake a knowledge of Santiago effectively. :)
I'll be sure to try "God's gift to mankind" first thing when I get there!
one day i'd pack my bag and head down south to santiago!!! keep on posting mr. chileno. Cheers!
cheap trick
