Break in the Wall
Here's an upbeat article in 21st Century Socialism about the Chilean copper miners' victory. It's a great read because it gives a concise summary of worker's rights in Chile from pre-Pinochet up to today, and clearly assesses the destruction of labor organization wrought Pinochet's 1980 scam Constitution which is robust today. Check out the constitutional prohibition of organization by workers of "distinct" companies. Slick stuff.
In all fairness, Goic who I criticized yesterday is the one who apparently helped mediate that deal between the subcontracted and Codelco. Still, I maintain that the Church should put its money where its mouth is, so to speak, and bear down on the government. Not suggest and Ethical Salary, demand it.
