Alojamiento Chile - Blog Review
This is a review of Michael's blog, Alojamiento Chile
So get this, Michael is both a Mormon, and an Anthropologist, and he's been blogging for centuries. He's in Chile again, although he just spent months back in the US blogging about getting a kidney replaced, and I didn't bother reading any of those entries because the whole subject kinda gives me the don willies, and it was also disastrous to his blog's focus on Chile that I so hunger for when grazing new posts under my "Chile" feed. Not a big kidney guy. In fact, I don't even know what the outcome was with that. But if you're still looking for a kidney, I know a girl in Valparaíso who can probably cut you a deal.
Anyway, Michael is very, well, bloggy in his blogging style, you really feel like you're reading old-fashioned journal entries, each one hits an avg. of three or so topics, musings for the day and he keeps it up with commendable regularity. Now that he's back in Chile, it's the things he has to deal with in Chile, and his conversational style and ample, although nonchalant, reference to many things that are so Santiago, Chile make for quite a value added experience, especially if you're getting oriented here in Chile. Everything from using free wi-fi in the Baquedano metro station because Telefonica is outrageous (and I'd be surprised if he has broadband internet in his house, to audiovisual field work he's doing that he mentions but doesn't go deep into. He's also been talking about these strange fake Ecuadorian doctors that come to your home and give you bad prescriptions.
I'll stop for a second to point out that I think, by commenting on Michael's blog, that I've saved his life on numerous occasions. I told him 'DON'T stress out about Telefonica, because you probably will die' (Michael's got high blood pressure). I also told him not to listen to a word of those sketchy ass doctors on call, of the Help! or Doctor & Call variety. He begrudgingly listened to my advice, and because of it he is with us today. You're welcome, Chileno. In all fairness, he has expressed appreciation for my "comments" (I would also add, 'his every waking breath' but it's not about me at this point), yet lately it's gotten a little tense, namely when discussing North American influence in Chile. You go check it out, and join the fun-loving spat.
Once you're done, write a review of Alojamiento Chile in the comments below.
