The Beast that was Barrio Brasil

Santiago Chile Sunset
When the savages (price-gouging electric company) turned the power out one night during my peak work hours, 12am-4am, I was reduced to wandering the streets in a daze without internet. On top of that it was a Thursday night so all the bars that make Barrio Brasil what it is were humming with the fierce sound of generators to keep their feeble lights alive.

But the strange darkness lifted with the sunrise, revealing a sad and holy city.

The hauntingly eerie beauty of the second photograph is captivating in its desolate darkness. No matter how many of Will's detractors "naysay" the blog as overly critical, he truly captured the inherent forlon quality of Barrio Brasil. Those photographs along with the accompanied commentary leave a lingering impression.

With all due respect, Veneziana, you're an idiot. The green and white bus is distinctly Santiago, as well as the features of the Chilean woman. All the photos were taken in barrio brasil, where I lived for 6 months, and it's not the first time one place in the world might resemble another. And anyway, by unintentionally resembling Mexico as you claim (I've never been to Mexico mainland), what does Barrio Brasil lose?

That's a rhetorical question. Please refrain from answering, you haven't displayed nearly enough intelligence for such a philosophical debate.
