Affirmation

Valiantly plodding along the Path of Life, we sometimes lose sight of where we're at. We forget why we're doing...whatever it is that we're doing. Like Living in Chile.

Which is why it's good to have our life-choices affirmed, even if by a total stranger. Here's something that I stumbled across just in the nick of time. Things were getting gloomy. But the encouraging words Canes Girl writes about Santiago, Chile on on RateitAll.com really spun me out of this downward spiral of despair. Looks like she lived in Chile for a few years, impressed with the level of development...neat! Me too! Let's keep reading...

After a while, however, you realize that a large number of people are clinically depressed and taking medication. You also realize that for some reason, which I still do not fully understand (maybe the pollution, maybe the traffic, maybe the classism/racism, etc.), everyone is constantly stressed - including myself and this is new for me.

Untie the Noose! Thanks Canes Girl!

I wrote in another comment that I don't like the stay in Chile for more than 2 weeks. Santiago is akin to LA. Looks nice from afar but once you start to look at it you see it's a facade.

There was a time when people in Santiago were less stressed. As soon as the majority of Santiaguinos became so materialistic by mimicking the American suburban conspicuous consuption way of debt-life things got out of control. Working class Chilenas go way overboard with the plastic trying to ape the rich white woman look. I'm sorry, Mischa Barton looks nice even in the most hideous clothes on. But the Santiaguinas are so blinded and buy that garish 2nd-tier knockoff dress Mischa wore last season. They are not making a high enough salary to pay even the smallest minimun amount.
