Population of Santiago, Chile
In case you were wondering, the population of Chile is 16,134,219. That's the July, 2006 estimate provided by the CIA world factbook website, a great resource for Chile facts, information about Chile, and a totally unexpected, no-holds-barred account of their involvement in the Pinochet coup of 1973.
But despite their factual prowess and remarkable thoroughness, they don't list the population of Santiago, Chile. I, on the other hand, do.
Because I figured it out. Here's how: the capital of Chile, according to a rough estimate of Chile demographics given by the 'peed, has 40% of Chile's population. Multiply this figure by the total population, and Greater Santiago comes in at a whopping 6.5 million, baby.
Yeah!
